Our Kombucha Recipe

As part of our preparations for this Sunday’s permaculture class we are making some Kombucha Kits. We grow our own Green Tea Leaves and the Kombucha and Jun love it. Last year we ran a class with Ella teaching us how to make Kombucha and amazing Sauerkraut with Old Kombucha mothers. Our Jun and Kombucha love home-grown tea leaves. Taste our home-grown tea and home-grown sugarcane. The honey is from our neighour, we make Jun and Kombucha. Permaculture Fundamentals – Skills Intensive

Live It Up For A Day On June 17th we are running a full day of practicals about Permaculture Fundamentals. A big part of the day’s fun is about what you can do in your kitchen (or an outdoor kitchen). Winter is a great time to sit and think, especially in front of a fire. This is a great time to evaluate ways to save money and tread a gentle footprint. Let us show you how to get extra perks such as reducing the toxins in your home, building community and connecting your family with nature. Sunday the 17th June …

Practice Your Design Skills

Last month was the great Permaculture Convergence in Canberra with Costa and many other happy folk. A lot of permaculture design thinkers got together to explore new tracks to pioneer. There were a number of people wanting help to hone their design skills. Design is the core feature of Permaculture. We will also enjoy the hearty and political conversations from our hosts and other tour members. Grabbing Chances We knew that this tour may be the last chance to meet key permaculture elders on their …

Cool Climate – Warm People

Temperate Permaculture Sometimes it’s good to step into another climate and see what foods love that bio-region. Last week a young man said to me that he would love to see permaculture theory put into practice. Now we have great opportunity to see what 40 years of permaculture in practice can do. The Southern Highlands NSW has mature sites showcasing many key permaculture strategies such as water and frost management, solar windows, greenhouses, specialist plants, community gardens, raised wicking beds, animal husbandry and more. The Southern Highland permaculture elders who will greet us are David and Anne Johnson, Peter Lach-Newinsky, …
